workshops for design engineers

On-site training works particularly well as this allows openness to handle project-related issues in confidence. We specialise particularly in training organisations involved in instrument or system design that need assistance in forming compliant lifecycle processes and performing hardware analysis. The training is structured to cover the theory and principles, followed by practical workshops either based on worked examples, case studies or the client’s own project. The aim is always to ensure the participants learn how to apply the techniques in a relevant context. Training courses are typically 1 to 3 days in duration, and can be extended with mentoring or consultancy as necessary.

SILMETRIC training courses are specifically aimed at developing delegates’ competence so they can:

  • Quantify risk and determine safety integrity targets (SILs) or PLs
  • Apply reliability concepts of failure rates and probabilities
  • Construct reliability models and perform PFD/PFH calculations
  • Determine architectural requirements for a given SIL or PL
  • Specify appropriate test, verification and validation techniques
  • Define a compliant lifecycle and functional safety management procedures
training for design engineers

Typically, delegates are engineers (electrical, electronic, software, mechanical, control and instrumentation), quality and technical management staff. Training can also be provided for staff involved in the evaluation (e.g., inspection or auditing) of supply chain deliverables.

Each delegate receives a comprehensive manual based on the lecture slides, numerous supplementary hand-outs for the exercises and a certificate of attendance for each individual’s training record.
